Eagle 450 with terminals

The Eagle 450 brings to the Alpha Microsystems community a unique ensemble of technology, compatibility, and value. With the Eagle 450, you'll find the computing power to meet the needs of diverse processing workloads in networked, multi-vendor environments.  You'll also find a modular design that equips the system to grow as your business grows.  And you'll find a home for familiar Alpha Micro software.

Picture (left): The Eagle 450 Business System with AlphaDIRECT PC workstations. The Eagle 450 also works with alphanumeric terminals, such as the Alpha Micro AM-65.

Technology - At the heart of the Eagle 450 is a Motorola ColdFire® microprocessor.  ColdFire®'s technically innovative design provides an exceptionally high performance, as well as an attractive cost.  In addition, it ensures software compatibility with older processors installed in thousands of earlier Alpha Micro computers.

Versatility - The Eagle 450 fits many missions. Serial ports with built-in lightning protection connect to alphanumeric terminals, printers, modems, and other serial devices. A parallel printer port is standard. The system accommodates field-installed expansion in memory, disk storage, and tape backup. On some models, industry-standard PCI expansion slots provide a plug-in path for future growth.

Networking - The Eagle 450 provides an Ethernet controller and TCP/IP network software as standard. Popular applications include Internet access, attachment to PC workstations, and data interchange with mainframes and other compatible processors.

Performance - With ColdFire®-based processing efficiency and advanced system architecture, the Eagle 450 moves data faster than many larger and more expensive prior-generation systems. Additional throughput boost is optionally available through network-attached terminal servers and other satellite processors. These units offload computing functions from the Eagle 450 host, leaving more processing power available for report printing, local terminal users, and other central tasks.

Compatibility - Since 1977, Alpha Micro computers have been delivering compatibility with performance.  Your software investments of yesterday run on the technology of today — with growth paths to tomorrow.
